1. Who can join 1st Cathays Al-Huda Scouts?
We welcome young people from across Cardiff who are eager to grow in character, confidence and leadership. Entry is open to all who are ready to embrace challenge, teamwork and personal development. Spaces are limited to ensure a high-quality experience for every child.
2. Do children need prior Scouting experience?
No. We welcome newcomers at every age. Our programme ensures that every young person is supported, challenged and inspired from the moment they join.
3. What makes your group unique?
We combine the excellence of Scouting’s global programme with the strength and dignity of our Muslim identity. Our young people are grounded in faith, enriched by adventure and guided toward service and leadership within the wider community.
4. How do you support children who are shy or new to group settings?
We pride ourselves on cultivating a warm, respectful environment where every young person is seen and encouraged. Our leaders gently build confidence, ensuring each child finds their voice and flourishes at their own pace.
5. Is there a uniform?
Yes. Our uniform is worn proudly as a symbol of unity, discipline and shared purpose. Specific details will be provided upon registration.
6. Do you offer financial assistance?
No young person should be prevented from participating due to financial circumstances. Support is available for families who may require it; please contact us confidentially.
7. How often do sessions take place?
Weekly sessions run during term-time, with additional opportunities — camps, activities and community events — offered through the year to deepen skills and friendships.
8. How are leaders trained and vetted?
All leaders and volunteers complete enhanced safeguarding checks and follow The Scout Association’s training pathway. We invest heavily in maintaining a team of dedicated, capable adults who lead by example and hold themselves to the highest standards.
9. Can parents get involved?
Absolutely. Many of our most cherished contributors are parents who share their time, expertise or specialist skills. Volunteering opportunities range from assisting at sessions to delivering workshops and supporting events.
10. Do you accommodate children with additional needs?
Wherever possible, yes. We work closely with families to understand individual needs and ensure that every young person is supported to participate meaningfully and safely.
